Q&A with Jody Shield

We love finding inspiration in the lives, routines and philosophies of our favourite creative people. To celebrate our Fall in Love with Your Life Collection, we’ve been catching up with some incredible people who love what they do. Next in our series, we caught up with mindfulness and meditation expert and author Jody Shield.

What does your perfect day look like?
Waking up early in the morning, working out with my PT for an hour, going to Soho House and spoiling myself with delicious food. Having a Cowshed facial in the afternoon. Going out for dinner somewhere lovely with my fiancé, having a relaxing bath and an early night.

What’s your morning routine?
I wake up at 6 am, drink hot water with lemon and ginger, and have a nourishing bowl of porridge with almond yoghurt and nut butter. I meditate for 30mins, being really grateful for everything that is going on in my life right now, asking that any blockages that I am holding on to be released and to receive everything that is meant for me in this moment.

I then have a nice tepid shower, put on minimal make-up (I like to keep my skin fresh and healthy) and start the day in a really positive mindset.

How do you find balance?
I find balance through making sure all three areas of my life are in harmony and aligned.

What are the benefits that come from finding more happiness and self love in our lives?
When you love and accept yourself, and feel happy, your whole outside world changes because your perspective on life changes. The way you interact with your environment becomes really positive, which also attracts like minded people.

What are some simple steps people can take to find more happiness?
1. Introduce a morning spiritual practice to kick start your day, which includes meditation.
2. Being grateful for everything, even the negative things (I know it’s hard, but trust me- it will make a HUGE difference in your life)
3. Journaling, I use my kikki.k journal every morning to empty my mind.

What’s one little thing that always makes you happier?
Seeing fresh flowers in Columbia Road Flower Market.

What stationery item can you not live without?
I am obsessed with my kikki.k rose gold pen. I carry it with me everywhere.

Be inspired to love your life with our new collection.
