Note to self… Make a Plan, Stick to that Plan!

When it comes to scheduling ‘me time’ as well as time to work on your goals and focus on your dreams, the key is not only to schedule and plan your time – getting organised – but to stick to that plan, just as you would if you had an important meeting, a doctor’s appointment or a dinner date. But don’t let this idea overwhelm you. Check out our top tips for planning your time below, along with some gorgeous new tools to inspire you to do just that.

1| BE REALISTIC WITH YOUR TIME

When it comes to making time for yourself as well as chasing your dreams and achieving your goals, it’s important to remember that what gets scheduled gets done! However, it’s also just as important to be realistic with your time, and set yourself some clear boundaries if need be. For example, remember to always allow time in your days for self-care and down-time and time where you don’t schedule anything at all. And remember, if it’s in your schedule, treat it just like you would an important meeting. Because after all, it’s an important meeting with yourself!

A great tip to keep in mind is to set yourself a clear morning and/or evening routine. By doing so – and sticking to it – you’ll begin to build a regular habit of following it every day. Eventually, it will become second nature, taking less energy and effort, allowing you to achieve what you set out to – whether that be a goal, a dream, more productive moments, more self-care or more ‘me time. ‘

A morning routine is often the easiest to stick to – as it is before your day has begun and before any unexpected distractions creep in. The evening is a great time for a routine that includes spending time with loved ones, relaxing and reflecting and preparing for the next day. And in terms of self-care, it’s a great time for unwinding and for quiet, ‘you’ time.

2| Choose the RIGHT TOOLS For you

When it comes to organisation and setting yourself a plan, we know it can sometimes be hard to know where to start! The secret to effortless organisation and successful planning always begins with the right tools as well as making sure you’re using them in the best way to suit your life.  So whether you want to plan more productive moments, start taking action toward your dreams, change a habit, make time for more self-care or something entirely different, there’s a tool perfect for whatever it is you need to do. You may choose just to use a Diary or Calendar, a beautiful Planner or a Daily Notes Pad. Just remember, that whatever you choose has to work for you, not for someone else. And you may try one method and decide it’s not for you – and that is totally fine. Keep trying until you find something that works for you!

3| EMBRACE THE PLANNER LIFE

When it comes to making time for yourself as well as chasing your dreams and achieving your goals, it’s important to remember that what gets scheduled gets done! And our particular favourite way to do this at kikki.K is with a gorgeous Personal Planner or Time Planner.

The beauty of a Planner is that it can be as unique as you are. Think about how you see yourself using it and set yourself some goals for better organisation. Customising the sections of your Planner to match different tasks or areas of your life is a great way to start. If you’re using your Planner for work, split up the different areas you work on and label the sections accordingly. So, for example, you could have a section for meetings, one for admin, one for ideas and the rest for different projects. If you’re using it for home, you could have one for housekeeping, one for DIY projects and one for family.

All our kikki.K Planners come with calendar sections already inside so make sure you never miss another appointment or meeting by filling yours in and refer to it regularly. Depending on what it is you’re making a plan for, you can also choose from a range of wonderful Planner Refills and Inserts, as well as so many fun Planner Accessories to really make your planner your own.

4| KEEP YOUR PLAN WHERE YOU CAN SEE IT

Just as you keep a Notebook or Journal and Pen handy for whenever inspiration strikes, it’s also important to keep your daily, weekly and monthly schedules handy and visible so you can stay on top of your plans and tasks. Whether you choose to use full Planner for this, or prefer to use super-handy Daily Notes pad or Weekly or Monthly Planner pads, by keeping your plan in plain view (on a Vision Board or simply on your desk) you’ll be so much more likely to stick to it, and less likely to allow other distractions to creep in and take you away from your plans.

5| MAKE IT FUN

Remember, while planning and scheduling can sound like a pretty mundane task, it doesn’t have to be! Use colour markers to highlight key actions and blocks of time. Or better yet, use stickers to mark important moments and dates in your Planner or Schedule. Get creative and have fun with your planning, and we promise you’ll be more inspired to stick to your plans. Planning your time is important, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be a lot of fun as well.

6| CHECK IN OFTEN

And one more thing to keep in mind… Depending on your routine, you’ll find that checking in with your plan at certain times of the day helps you stay calm and organised. So you might decide to check in first thing in the morning, half-way through the day and then once again in the evening, for example. That way you can check appointments, notes and to do lists to keep you on track throughout the day.

As the famous saying goes, if you fail to plan, you’re planning to fail, and at kikki.K we couldn’t agree more! When it comes to achieving your goals and dreams in life, it’s so important to make a plan, and even more important for you to have the right tools to set you up for success!  Let us inspire your planning with our gorgeous new Self Collection, available online and instore now.
