The New Year might not be quite here yet but there’s no time like the present for getting started with your goals for 2017. We love taking a moment before the craziness of Christmas to declutter, prioritise and get organised. Completing just a few simple actions now can do so much to set us up for success over the coming year. With that in mind, we thought we’d share some of our favourite organisation tips to inspire your year ahead.
Having the right tools is essential to achieving your goals for the year. A diary can help you manage your schedule, make more time for high-impact activities and set deadlines for key projects. Before the year gets started, why not take a moment to set up your diary for 2017? Copy over birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, trips and key events so that you can get your personal life sorted.
Then think about what you want to achieve in your professional life. Are there key milestones you need to hit in order to achieve goals and complete important projects? If so, write them down as a reminder to make more time for the high-impact activities that will really make a difference to your year.
Piles of paperwork never helped anyone. It’s amazing how decluttering your workspace can simplify your life. Start the year as you mean to go on and invest some time in setting up a simple filing system for your home or work space. Assign folders to each area of your life, keeping only the paperwork that you absolutely need to reference. Make your system so simple that there’s no excuse not to use it.
No matter when your tax year starts, it’s always the perfect time to start getting prepared. Doing a little work now can save you endless time and stress in the future. Set up a Receipts Folder and keep track of your expenses so you can claim them back. Then use a Documents Folder to store utility bills, important documents and anything else you might need. Then love how easy it is to access everything throughout the year.
