The work we do is such a big part of our lives, so it makes sense that the way we work impacts the life we lead. When I first started kikki.K, I wrote down a list of all that I wanted and on that list was a passion for learning and knowledge sharing. So when I first read Cyril Peupion’s book Work Smarter: Live Better, I knew I needed to find a way to share these great tips and insights. That’s why I’m so excited to introduce our new Life Essentials Collection, which includes four limited edition products created with Cyril to help you improve your work habits.
To celebrate the launch of the new collection, I thought I’d share some of my daily habits that help me save time and work more productively.
Set big rocks
As per the advice in Cyril’s book, I like to set three ‘big rocks’ – three key projects that I need to focus on each quarter to support my long-term goals. By writing these down, I can ensure they stay front and centre each week. Having a clear vision and purpose helps me to understand what I should be spending my time on.
Start each day with focus
In today’s world there are so many distractions that hold us back. The power of focus is incredibly valuable and highly underrated. I start every day by spending 90 minutes on my most important project – no checking emails and no phone calls. It’s amazing what you can get done when you start your day working on these high-impact activities.
Stay off email
This year one of my goals is to be much more productive and really focus on things that are really important. So I set myself the challenge to no longer check & reply to my e-mails each day. This has been such an incredible experience as it has really allowed me more time to work on my big rocks. Of course, not everyone will be able to do this. However even if you cut back and only check your inbox twice a day, you will still free up so much time to work on the things that matter.
Look after my health
There is a saying, ‘if you don’t have health, you have nothing’, and I take it pretty seriously. I’m a big fan of doing things each day that help to improve my work / life balance. For example, I have started taking walking meetings, where myself and my team head outdoors to discuss ideas and projects. By adding these little healthy habits to my day, I find that I not only feel so much better but I have more energy to focus on my work too.
I hope these tips, along with Cyril’s book, help you to embrace better and healthier habits at work. Don’t forget that you can also use our new Work Smarter: Live Better Journal to help you implement these ideas.
