Kristina’s Mindfulness Guide

If you make one small change this year, choosing to live mindfully is probably the best thing you can do to bring more peace and happiness to every day. Making an effort to live in the present moment and become more aware of your thoughts and feelings can have wonderful benefits to your health, relationships and overall wellbeing.

The key to mindful living is in becoming more attentive to yourself and the world around you. Learning to register the good and the bad in a non-judgmental way means your mind will become clearer and you’ll be more motivated to take actions to improve your life. This year I’ll be using my Mindfulness Journal along with my Mindfulness in a Box to focuson these five mindful resolutions.

Be present with the children

We all know that family time is precious so why does it frequently get interrupted by work and other things? This year I’ll be making an effort to turn off my work phone when I’m spending time with the children so they know they have my full attention.

Be mindful of what’s on my plate

Eating healthy, nutritious meals can be difficult when you’re busy, however I’ll be using some of my favourite books, including Make Peace With Your Plate to inspire me to take care of my body by eating mindfully.

Meditate regularly

5am is my ‘holy hour’ where I take the time to think, reflect, write and read. I’ll also be using the Smiling Mind app on my phone to make meditation a habit each morning.

Exercise every day

Even if I only manage a small walk, I’ll be focusing on making sure I exercise each day. This could be anything from yoga to playing with the kids. After all a healthy mind and healthy body go hand-in-hand.

Focus on my relationships

On top of the cards I would normally write, I’ve made a resolution to write one card a week. I love writing these as it’s a time when you get to think about your family and friends and give them something just because, not just for special occasions.
