We love the way our new Be Brave collection is inspiring so many of you to share your #kikkiKBeBrave moments on Instagram. To celebrate the collection, we caught up with one of our favourite Australian bloggers Tara Whitman of the blog Tara Milk Tea to share hers.
What’s the bravest thing you’ve ever done?
I may have jumped a couple of fences to get some photos, but nothing really sticks out as the ‘bravest thing ever’ in my twenty years of living. At this point in time, I would say living a happy life is the bravest thing I’ve attempted to do. I recently quit my job to work as a freelancer. At first, the concept of not knowing what I would be working on in six to twelve months was scary, but it’s been much better than expected. ‘Working’ actually makes me happy now!
What inspired you to start blogging?
I started to share my work on Instagram about two years ago, and then began a blog about a year ago. My blog is a way of sharing my story for those who wish to know more about a location, brand, restaurant or anything that I’m currently loving/have shared on Instagram. I love producing content for my blog. However, I only created it because I felt I needed a blog/website to make my work feel legitimate. It was a bad excuse to start a blog. Now, I’ve learned the love the habit, and it’s simply become an extension of myself.
What is something that you’d still love to achieve?
There is so much on my bucket list! One of the biggest would be to visit as many countries and places as I possibly can. However, this year in particular I’ve been trying really hard to live in the moment and not think too much about what lies ahead. My main goal right now is to focus on being happy, and trying to make others happy.
Can you describe the ideas process behind your posts?
For most of my posts, I come up with the idea on the spot. My images are usually based around a particular item or idea i.e. food, a piece of clothing, an accessory and the rest will sort of fall in place as the image comes together. I love capturing happy living, and that’s how I try to portray my life online. I am constantly inspired by other creators/curators/dreamers/designers and only hope that I can inspire with my images, at least a little (Fingers crossed)!
What advice would you give to bloggers who are just starting out?
Make friends! It’s such a simple, but kinda scary concept. I’ve met so many inspiring people through the online community, who have only brought good and inspired me to be better. Everyone I’ve met has always had a fresh point of view.
What’s your favourite piece from the new collection?
The Butterfly Dish is so handy (and cute!) as it’s perfect for storing my daily rings on my bedside. I also, LOVE the look of the Travel Wallet (a good travel wallet is always a must), and the Vision Boards from kikki.K always have me inspired. Whoops, I can’t name just one piece!
