Growing up in Pakistan, Malala Yousafzai loved going to school. When the Taliban banned education for girls in her village, Malala spoke out for her right to learn. After surviving an attack on her life on her way home from school at age 15, Malala’s voice only grew louder, and she was determined to continue her fight for equality until every girl could go to school. In 2014, Malala became the youngest person to receive the Nobel Peace Prize. Today she continues her incredible work through Malala Fund, an organisation that champions 12 years of free, safe, quality education for all girls.

This partnership with Malala Fund aims to help Malala Yousafzai in her quest to break down barriers to girls’ education around the globe. Making this partnership even more timely, are the lasting effects Malala Fund says that COVID-19 will have on the lives of most marginalised girls. The global pandemic, resulting in 90% of the world’s countries shutting school doors, causes a temporary hiatus for most, but Malala Fund estimates that approximately 20 million more girls may never return to school once the COVID-19 crisis subsides.
By raising awareness, kikki.K hopes to support Malala Fund as they focus on addressing the immediate and long-term implications of the pandemic on girls’ education. Malala Fund’s key priorities are to keep girls learning through school closures, re-enrol girls to catch up on missed lessons, support teachers with resources and training, strengthen the system against future crises and ensure girls’ physical and psychological wellbeing in the classroom.
