Today we all lead such busy lives and it is all too easy to get swept up with little day to day tasks and digital distractions. That’s why it’s so important to carve out a time each day to focus on our bigger priorities and overarching goals. The mid year point is the perfect time to pause and check in with our daily habits and routines, so why not do just that with these simple ideas?
Declutter everything
A tidy desk makes for a tidy mind and we love applying this philosophy to every area of our lives. First of all, when it comes to your work space, set up a system that works for you. Use a paper in tray, boxes and folders to keep everything in it’s place and make sure your filing system is so simple you don’t even have to think about it. Then make sure you only keep paperwork you absolutely need.
Next apply this philosophy to everything and love how simple life can become. For example, clear out your home, your wardrobe or even your handbag to live a more focused, productive and positive life every day.
Split your day into 90 minute blocks
We love this simple technique for splitting up your day. Group smaller tasks together, for example answering emails or returning calls, and do them all in one 90 minute block. This cuts out wasted time moving between tasks and leaves you more time and energy to focus on larger projects. Make sure you turn off your email notifications so you’re not tempted to check your inbox outside of your designated blocks. You could even pencil in a 90 minute block in your diary at the beginning of each day and make that your time to focus on creative projects and big ideas using your favourite Feature Journal.
Track your progress
You’ll never know how productively you’re working unless you track your results. Take some time at the end of each week to go through your schedule and to do list, making sure you’re happy with what you’ve achieved. Anything you’ve missed or not spent enough time on can now be pencilled in next week’s schedule – the perfect way to stop putting things off.
Make time for you
Life’s not always about work. We equally need to give ourselves enough time to unwind and refresh, letting ourselves be uplifted by doing more of what we love. Whether it’s time with friends and family, or time to exercise, be sure to pencil in these activities just as you would any meeting or appointment. This is a great way of making time for you, ensuring you carry on feeling inspired, happy and motivated.
We hope these simple ideas help you live your best life. Let us know what you’re loving in the comments or by sharing your progress with #kikkiKLove on Instagram and Twitter.
